I promise you this pattern will not disappoint! I managed to work through this quick throw while I was babysitting my nephew and niece! I’m almost embarrassed to tell you how simple this pattern is because you are only repeating 2 rows (and one of them is SC across!) and swapping out colour. But the result looks so elegant! People will think you spent weeks working away on it :). Honestly, those a the best patterns. If you are looking for something along the same lines but slightly different (but equally easy) check out my Easy Peasy Crochet Blanket.

Enjoy and send me pics as you work it up! I would love to see how yours turns out.

Materials:

  • Medium weight yarn – this patten used Red Heart Soft and 3-4 skeins of each colour (if using 2 colour stripes) in White and Grey
  • Crochet hook size H (5.50mm)
  • Scissors

Abbreviations:

Ch = Chain(s)

Sc = Single crochet

Dc: Double crochet

YO: Yarn over

SK: Skip

Pattern Notes:

The pattern measures approximately 42″x52″ but can easily be adjusted +/- with multiple of 3 stitches. Just be mindful of the gauge! (Tension: 17 stitches, 23 rows to 10cm/4″).

The Mixed Cluster stitch is created over two rows and the pattern design comes together by swapping out colours in 2 row increments. The colour pattern I used is listed below but you can change up the colour format as you wish!

Pattern:

CH 81,

Row 1: In the second chain from the hook SC. SC in each chain across the row. (80 sc)

Row 2: CH 2 and turn. In the first stitch YO *and insert your hook, YO and pull through, YO and pull through only 2 loops. YO and SK the next stitch. In the next stitch, insert your hook, YO and pull through, YO and pull through 1 loop. YO, insert your hook into the same stitch, YO and pull through, YO and pull through 1 loop. YO and pull through all 6 loops on your hook. Ch 1. Mixed Cluster completed. In the same space that you ended repeat from * and work mixed cluster across to the end of the row. On the last mixed cluster, in the last stitch of the row, omit the ch 1 to close up the mixed cluster and work a DC instead pulling through – change colour at this point before you finish the stitch.
