Enlaced Underbrush Shrug-A Free Women’s Garment Pattern

I know that the holiday time can be stressful, especially for us crafters. We spend the last few months (or weeks if you are a procrastinator like I am) of the year cramming in last minute projects and gifts for others. I know that oftentimes projects that we want to make for ourselves get put on the back burner, sometimes never getting touched again. Let’s put ourselves first for a change, and start this year with making an item for US!

From January 1st-31st Kathy of Elk Studio is hosting a Make It For Me Event. Every day of this month she will feature a new designer with a free pattern that would be a perfect gift to yourself.

This is my first year participating in this event, however, I am very excited to see all of the lovely patterns that each designer is providing. I know I’m going to make myself a few new things!!

For this event I designed the Enlaced Underbrush Shrug. I love the simplicity of this piece. It uses basic stitches so even a less experienced crocheter could make it with ease. The simple stitches along with the shell edging add such a classic and elegant look to this easy-to-make shrug.

Shoulders

Place your front panels on top of your back panel with the curved side of the panels facing downward and inward. Using the tail from where you fastened off, mattress stitch the top of the right and left panels to the top of the back panel. You should have (25, 25, 27, 27, 27, 27) st left open in the center of the back panel.

Armholes

Measure 5.75 (5.75, 6, 6.25, 6.5, 7) inches down from the top of the panels. Place a stitch marker through both layers of your panels. Mattress stitch from the marked section down to the bottom of your panels. Repeat for the other side.
