Snowman C2C scarf
A lot of people wonder how long to make a scarf for an adult, teen, child or toddler. This is my rule of thumb, I make my scarfs to be the same length as the recipient. When it is draped over there shoulders it goes to their waste. This also gives them plenty of scarf left to wrap around their face or neck a coupe of times. That is all fine and good if you know the height of your recipient. What about the times you don’t know the exact height? Here is a list of average height for certain age groups. Keep in mind these are average lengths. My 7 year old is the height of an average 5 year old. Age: Length of Scarf 2-3 year old 31-33 inches 4-5 years old 37-40 inches 6-8 years old 42-45 inches 9-11 years old 49-52 inches 12-13 years old 58-62 inches 14-15 years old 63-66 inches 16-18 years old 67-70 inches Adult 67-70 inches Gauge: Hook: H/8 5.0mm Yarn: Red Heart, Super Saver, White, Red Heart, Super Saver, Cascade DK, Orange Red Heart Super Saver, Pink Other: Tapestry Needle Scissors Large Pom Pom OR Pom Pom Maker Buttons Stitch Abbreviations: Ch – Chain Hd – Half double Crochet St – stitches Sl st – slip stitch Note: The white is worked up in mini c2c until you have 11 blocks. Weave in ends. I didn't label this as a "weighted blanket" due to the fact that it only ways about 5 lbs. With most weighted blankets they have a rule of being "10%" of the persons body weight. My fear is that with my daughter the heaviness of a properly weighted blanket for her weight might be to much for her. All she really needed was the feeling that she was being hugged and a stitch that she can "play"/run her fingers through as she falls asleep.
Since she has been using this at night, she has been sleeping better. Though, her ability to fall asleep is about the same. It still takes her a bit to completely fall asleep, but once she does fall asleep she sleeps through the night.
