Luxe Bobbles Crochet Throw Blanket Pattern
Today’s free crochet pattern is for a super soft, cuddly bobble blanket! You can make it any size you’d like but you’ll find instructions for a baby blankie and a throw. The randomized bobbles make this a fun, modern blanket for just about any space. It also works up fairly quickly as you’ll work with a larger hook and two strands of yarn held together.

Have you tried to crochet bobbles? They remain super trendy on clothing and home decor and are really easy to make! If you’re comfortable with double crochet stitches, you can certainly tackle bobbles. I made these bobbles extra puffy with a generous amount of yarn overs. So fun! If you’re brand new to crochet, however, I’d try my Go-To Crocheted Blanket first.
And the YARN. If you haven’t tried Lion Brand Feels Like Butta for a blanket, I highly recommend adding it to your must-haves. It’s a reasonably priced, classic worsted weight yarn with several color options. It has the feel of a chenille-like fleece, but is light, airy and very easy to work with. No splitting, no looping (worming), and did I mention it’s soft? Haha. This pale grey will go with just about anything and I love it if you are making a gender neutral baby blankie. Of course, my daughter has already claimed my throw. She LOVES how soft it is and she likes to push the bobbles inward and pop them back out. Oh the fun for an 8 year old!
If you’ve never tried bobbles before, there are tons of great YouTube videos on how to crochet them. Find a tutorial that you like, test it out, and then come back here to follow the pattern. 🙂
I’m no stranger to blanket making, and it’s hard to pick a favorite (Mexican Blanket, Wintertide Throw, Mod Heirloom Blanket). But, I think this Luxe Bobble Blanket wins in the softness category – no doubt!
Shall we get to it?!

I LOVE this and can’t wait to get started on it. My first experience with bobbles was with your Santa Monica Bias Wrap (which I’m still working on lol), but you are right, bobbles are so fun to work. Not to mention the interest they add to any pattern. Thanks again for a wonderful project that I look forward to making! -Lauren
Hi,
I’m so happy to start following you. I do not crochet, but I love to knit. If I can figure out how to attach a picture, I’ll show you the your pattern being made of the Heirloom Knit Throw Blanket. I’m knitting my second one. The first one was a gift to a neighbor who helped us out, the second will go to my granddaughter who will be graduating from high school. Since we tend to like really big blankets, I made it with 10 seed stitch stripes and 9 Andalusian stripes. I LOVE IT!!!!! Thank you!!!
Sandy
Why can’t I print this?
Jessica . . . you’re killin’ me here with these amazing patterns and yarns!! In the midst of crocheting two of your baby blanket patterns for my grand niece and nephew (one is the Luxe Stripe Boucle Blankie which is the 2nd time I’m making this blanket for the same baby because mom put it in the dryer, which kind of wrecked it …… argh…..! Bad on me; I failed to tell her NOT to do that …… and it turns out it’s baby’s favorite so of course I have to make it again 🙂 Now I want to abandon the one for my coming soon grand niece and make this bobble instead because I just order a sample skein of the Feels Like Butta yarn and LOVE IT. What to do what to do. Thank you for continuing your posts amidst this changed world. We need you out here.
This blanket is amazing. Love the bobbles. I think any baby would love to play with them. And any adult would love to look at the interesting pattern of bobbles. Such a versatile blanket.
I want to make this in dusty blue but cannot find the yarn anywhere. If yarn kit is ordered direct from lion brand is there a kit discount?
I have already purchased the ad free pattern from Etsy site.
I don’t know of a current discount, Carole. You can however use any worsted weight yarn that you like (and that you can find in dusty blue).
