Blanket/Body

You will connect rows on this section. You will need to ch 1 extra at the start of the magic circle to make room for the first dc.

R1: (3 dc, 2 ch) four times in magic circle, join at the top of first dc with a sl st.

Pull hole closed. *The dc’s are the sides of the square, the ch’s are the corners.

R2: Ch 2, turn, dc in the same stitch the chain is in. 5 dc into the corner (the corner being space made by the 2 ch on the previous row). Dc around doing 5 dc in each corner. Join with a sl st in the first dc of the round.

Note: Skip over the original ch 2 and put the sl stitch directly in the first dc to avoid a seam!

R3: Ch 2, turn, dc in each st across. At each corner do 5 dc in the 3rd st of the previous row’s 5 dc. R4-9: Repear R3

Join tan yarn at sl st

R10-11: Repeat Row 3  Join red yarn at sl st

R12: Ch 1, Sc in Back Loops Only (BLO) of each dc across. At corners do 2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc in 3rd st of the previous rows 5 dc. Sl st in first sc of the round.

Note: The rainbow part is supposed to be wavy so after you do the foundation row of sc the next row pattern will be sl st, sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc. For optimal waves you want to alternate. AKA try to get the sl st right above the dc from the previous color’s wave row and the dc above where the sl st was. It’s okay if it’s off at times. The corners can be tricky because they will pop up right in the middle of the wave pattern. There are several ways to deal with this so pick the one you are comfortable with and stick with it. The key is to be consistent and aim for symmetry.  1. Regardless of where you are in the wave pattern hdc 3 before and 3 after the corner. Start new wave after. (This is what I did and it worked well) 2. Pause the wave, do the corner, resume where you were in the wave.

3.  Sl st 2 before and 2 after the corner.

4.  Ditch the wave pattern altogether by doing two rows of hdc in each color all the way around.

Still with red yarn

R13: Ch 1, in both loops (sl st, sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc) around. 2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc in corners (Now corners are the space made from the previous rows ch 2). Sl st in first sl st of the round.

Join orange yarn at sl st

R14: Repeat R12

R15: Repeat R13

Join yellow yarn at sl st

R16: Repeat R12

R17: Repeat R13

Join green yarn at sl st

R18: Repeat R12

R19: Repeat R13

Join blue yarn at sl st

R20: Repeat R12

R21: Repeat R13

Join purple yarn at sl st

R22: Repeat R12

R23: Repeat R13
