Hi All!
I hope you all are as excited about the new year as I am. I can’t wait to see all of the new creations that my fellow crocheters come up with and to see what new projects I will create. I have a lot of things that I would like to improve on and implement in this new year but I would really appreciate some of your suggestions. Are there certain patterns you would like to see made? How about my style of writing? Would you all like to get to know me better or do you want me to stay focused on crocheting? Any input would be appreciated.
And before I forget, here are those patterns that I promised you all. I hope you all have a safe and happy New Year!
Snowflake Trivet
I had a lot of ideas that centered around snowflakes this year and couldn’t decide which to make. Once I actually made the snowflake, the choice was pretty much made for me. It turned out a lot bigger than I had expected which left me only a few options: either a trivet or a place mat.
The Snowflake:
I used a H hook with Simple Soft yarn by Caron in White.
Ch 4. Sl st in first chain to make a ring.

Pad:
I used a H hook as well with a dark blue Simply Caron Yarn (it was an old yarn and I don’t have the label)
Ch 4. Sl st in first ch.

Fasten off.
Sew the snowflake to the base.
Christmas Star Ornament
I used the same Darice cord as I did for the snowflake ornament but in gold and white. Unlike the snowflake ornament, I used a G hook (which is why I think the snowflake would look better if you use a G hook).
This ornament is pretty difficult to explain in words too so forgive me if this explanation is confusing.
Ch 4. Sl st in first ch to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3. Work 15 dc into ring. sl st in top of ch 3.
Rnd 2: *Ch 9. Sl st in back of 2nd chain from hook. Sl st in the back of the next 7 ch. Sl st in next 2 stitches. Ch 4. Sl st in 2nd chain from hook. sl st in back of each of next 2 ch. sl st in next 2 stitches. Repeat around. Sl st in first ch.
Rnd 3: Ch 3. *Dc in next stitch. Hdc in next stitch. sc in next stitch. Sl st in next 3 stitches. Ch 1 . Sl st in next 3 stitches (the 3 slip stitches). sc in next stitch. Hdc in next stitch. Dc in next 2 stitches. (Now it should look symmetrical). Skip 2 stitches. Hdc in next stitch (in the first chain of ch 4 from previous round). Sc in next stitch. ch 1. Sc in next stitch. Hdc in next stitch. skip 2 stitches. Dc in next stitch. Repeat from * around. Do not do last Dc (since the ch 3 is in that spot) Sl st in top of ch 3. Fasten off.
Christmas Bangles
I have always loved the idea of bangles. They always look so fashionable but I can’t stand all of the clanging. I also can’t stand the fact that if I wave my arm, they fly right off my hand. So I found a use for some of the old bangles that I have and never wear. Here is my solution:
The pattern is quite simple. I just single crocheted 9 rounds with three rounds completed around each bangle. Depending on the size of the bangles you may have to adjust this pattern but I think this will work for most.
I used a 1/2.75 hook and lace (the kind you use for friendship bracelets and sell for $0.40 at Michaels) in white, green, and red.
Start by using the red lace and ch 50. Sl st in first chain to create a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1. Sc in each chain around. Sl st in first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1 around the first bangle. Sc in same stitch. *Ch 1. Skip 1 stitch. Sc in next stitch. Repeat from * around. Sl st in first sc.
Rnd 3: Ch 1. Sc in each sc and ch 1 space around (49 sc).
Repeat the 3 rounds two more times. Once in white then in green.
