I was really in the mood to create a hood!  I think that they are great to have to grab & go for those nasty weather days. This crochet hood looks very whimsical so I decided to name it after a fairy tale character ^-^

This pattern is super easy & you can adjust it to however you want!

Yarn: medium worsted weight; approx. 150 yds

[Red Heart Super Saver in Burgundy]

Hook: Size J/ US 10 (6.0 mm)

Materials: Scissors & tapestry needle

Gauge: 11 sts & 5 rows = 4 inches

Final Measurements:

Length- 12 inches

Width- 9 inches

The Pattern:

Beg w slip knot & ch 28.

Row 1: dc in 3rd ch from hook & all the way down. 3 dc in last ch & dc opp side of ch. ch 2 & turn.

For the remainder of the pattern I crocheted through the front loop only to create a rib pattern.

Row 2: dc in ea st, in your top 3 stiches; 2 dc in first st, 1 dc in next st, and 2 dc in next st, dc in ea st all the way down. ch 2 & turn.

Each row you are inc 2 st – place stitch marker in top stitch if you need help placing your increases.

Row 3 – 10: Rep Row 2

Row 11: dc in ea st. ch 2 & turn.

Row 12: hdc in ea st

Pattern Notes: This pattern is easily adjustable.  If you are working with different materials be sure to adjust the number of stitches.  If you want your hood to be fitted than stop increasing after row 6.  You can also use a different type of stitch for this hood & adjust the amount of rows needed accordingly.

This hood can be attached to a cowl or sweater!  However, I created it to wear just as it is..
