This hat pattern can be worked in different colors like
the one in the

***This is worked using 2 strands of baby sport weight yarn (Bernat
Softee Baby)
Pattern sizes: Preemie (Newborn) (6 months) (12 months) (18 months)
Hook size H or I
Ribbing:
Row 1: Ch 5 or 7 (depending on
the desired width of the ribbing), sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch
across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2-35 (44) (44) (52) (56):
if you desire to work in back loops, ok. I don't. Sc in each st across.
Ch 1, turn, do not fasten off.
Hat:
Row 1: Work 2sc in first row of
ribbing, sc across row end of
ribbing with 2sc in last row, ch 1, turn.
Row 2-7 (10) (14) (15) (15): sc in 1st sc,
sk 2 sts *(sc, ch 2, 2dc) in next st or ch-2 sp, sk 2 sts, rep from *
across, ending with 1 dc in last st, ch 1, turn.
Row 8 (11) (15) (16) (16): sc
in 1st st, * skip next dc, sc in next dc, sc in ch-2 sp, sc in next sc,
rep across ending with sc in last st. Turn.
Tassel:
Last row (all sizes): * Ch 12, sc in next sc, rep from * across.
Leave at least 12" tail for weaving tassel closed.
Keeping the tassel to one side, weave strand in and out across top row.
Then carefully, turn hat inside out to sew side seam with seam on
inside of hat. I just sc across seam area and fasten off.

Matching
Blanket Pattern for Hats

Blanket is
worked using 2 strands of baby sport weight yarn (Bernat Softee Baby)
Alternate
Pattern for hat and matching blanket: shell = (2dc, ch 1, 2dc)...."last
row shell" = (3dc, ch 1, 3dc)
***I prefer to
work white for the first 11 rounds of this blanket
and then begin
with a new color to match with the hat.
Ch 5; join with
sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1 (right
side): Ch 3, 2 dc in ring, (ch 2, 3 dc in ring) 3
times, ch 2;
join to top of ch-3.
Rnd 2: Ch 3; (2
dc, ch 2, 2 dc)-corner made, all in corner ch-2 sp, (dc in each dc
to next ch-2 sp, work corner) 3 times, dc in last 2 dc; join; turn.
Rnd 3: Ch 3, (dc
in each dc to corner, work corner) 4 times, dc in each dc to rnd
of rnd; join, turn.
Rnd 4-11: Repeat
rnd 3; 43 dc across each side at end of rnd 11.
***If you prefer
to change colors, then fasten off at end of row 11. join new
color
with sl st in previous row shell where you fastened off, then
proceed to next rnd.
Row 12: Ch 3, do
NOT turn; (dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same st, ch 1, * (skip next 4 dc,
work shell in next dc, ch 1) across to within 3 dc of corner ch-2
sp, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch-2 sp, ch 1, repeat from * 3 times more,
skip next 4 dc, (work shell in next dc, ch 1, skip next 4 dc)
across; join with sl st to 1st dc. (8 shells)
Row 13: Sl st in
next dc and in next ch-1 sp, ch 3, (dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same sp, ch
1, * (work shell in next shell (ch-1 sp), ch 1) across to next
corner ch-2 sp, work (shell, ch 2, shell) in ch-2 sp, ch 1; repeat
from * 3 times more, (work shell in next shell, ch 1) across; join
with sl st to 1st dc. ( 10 shells)
Row 14: Sl st in
next dc and in next ch-1 sp, ch 3, (dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same sp, ch
1, * (work shell in next shell, ch 1) across to next corner ch-2 sp,
( 3dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch-2 sp, ch 1; repeat from * 3 times more,
(work shell in next shell, ch 1) across; join with sl st to 1st dc.
Row 15: Sl st in
next dc and in next ch-1 sp, , ch 3, (dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same sp,
ch 1, * (work shell in next shell, ch 1) across to next corner ch-2
sp, 2 dc in ch-2 sp (ch 2, 2 dc) twice in same sp, ch 1; repeat
from * 3 times more, (work shell in next shell, ch 1) across; join
with sl st to 1st dc.
Row 16: Sl st in
next dc and in next ch-1 sp, ch 3, (dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same sp, ch
1, * (work shell in next shell, ch 1) across to next corner ch-2 sp,
ch 2, work shell in next ch-2 sp, ch 1; repeat from * 3 times more,
(work shell in next shell, ch 1) across; join with sl st to 1st dc.
Row 17: Sl st in
next dc and in next ch-1 sp, ch 3, (2dc, ch 1, 3dc) in same sp, ch
1, * (work "last row shell" in next shell, ch 1) across to next
corner ch-2 sp, ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook (picot made),
work "last row shell" in next shell, ch 1, repeat from * 3 more times,
work last row shell in each shell across, join to top of ch-3 with
sl st; finish off.
