I am so excited to be here on the Joy of Motion blog to share my two color crochet pattern, the Felicity Velvet Bobble Wrap! Sometimes all you want to do is cuddle up in a blanket instead of going out in public.

Guess what, now you can wear a blanket in public and look fashionable, hehe! This velvet wrap is so soft, and is one of the coziest things that you’ll ever wear.

The Yarn

Yarnspirations does it again with Bernat Velvet. As soon as I felt the velvet yarn, I was in love. It’s the softest, most luxurious yarn that I’ve used with some enough beautiful colors for everyone.

This bulky weight yarn makes your project work up quickly, and makes the fabric nice a thick. It has great drape so that any piece made from it hangs well on you. I love how  it makes this wrap feel like a giant cozy blanket that keeps you nice and warm.

A GREAT FIRST GARMENT CROCHET PATTERN

I designed this pattern to be a perfect pattern for beginning to crochet garments. It’s made from one big rectangle, with the sleeves worked off of that. You then just sew the sleeve edges together, and you have a wrap that you can wear. Everyone should be able to make something they can wear, and this pattern is just the one for that.

This wrap can be dressed up or down for any occasion. The velvet yarn gives it an elegant look that could go with a fancy dress, or you can wear it with jeans and a blouse while still rocking it. I’m all about comfortable, functional, and cute clothing, which is exactly what this wrap is.

Essentially this wrap feels like a warm blanket wrapped around your shoulders; making it wonderful to wear on cold days or nights during the fall or winter. However, since it has wide open sleeves, you could wear it almost anytime of year.

How Long Does It Take To Crochet That?

How long it takes to crochet something varies depending on your skill & how fast you crochet. But that isn’t a helpful answer is it?

Well, I’ve developed a yarn calculator to help you get the answer to this question.

It will help you calculate exactly how much time you’ll spend crocheting a project.

All you need to know is how much yarn you will use on the project in either meters, yards or skeins. Then crochet your test square & time it.

Calculate how long it takes to crochet that.

Finishing

Once you’ve finished up the rectangle and sleeve rows, it’s time to seam the sleeves.

Felicity Velvet Bobble Wrap - Free Crochet Pattern by E'claire Makery

To sew up the sleeves, fold or the sleeve rows to match up with the bottom of the main piece. In the sleeve edge towards the middle, measure in 10 inches from the end, and mark it. This will be where you end sewing up the sleeve.

Felicity Velvet Bobble Wrap - Free Crochet Pattern by E'claire Makery

Once you’ve marked it, then sew up the sleeves edges together till you reach the marker. Repeat with the other sleeve.

Once you’ve seamed up the sleeves, fasten them off and weave in the ends.
