The Yarn
I used Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton in color way Jade. It was my first time making a clothing with this yarn and I highly recommend it. It has amazing qualities that I look for when crocheting with a cotton yarn. It is soft, textured, has wonderful drape, and shows off the stitches really well. It is marked as a worsted weight 4 yarn but it’s definitely on the light worsted side.
On the label it says the recommended hook size is 4 mm for crochet. Since this a light worsted weight yarn I would category it in the dk weight as well. This yarn has 186 yards, 100 grams, 3.5 ounces and is 100% mercherized cotton. This yarn is machine wash and dry making it perfect for garments.
AN AIRY LACY TEE WITH SO MUCH TEXTURE
This tee looks complex with all of the stitches and textures but it is a lot easier than it looks. This tee has a textured body that has wonderful drape airy and gives you coverage. It is worked in the round so this tee has very little seaming which is a huge bonus.
You will branch off to create the top with the Iris stitch which is a lacy fan stitch. I had to use this on the sleeves and for the hem. Let’s chat about that because it is one of my favorite features. I wanted a tee that had length but wouldn’t make you feel constricted so it has a split hem giving a feminine touch, you can still use your pockets, and of course length.
This top has so much options for customization to make this tee fit perfect for your body. This tee is perfect to wear for Spring days, Summer evenings, and those Fall days. I’m excited that this top can be easily worn for most seasons that is sassy, classy, and super cute.
How Long Does It Take To Crochet That?
How long it takes to crochet something varies depending on your skill & how fast you crochet. But that isn’t a helpful answer is it?
Well, I’ve developed a yarn calculator to help you get the answer to this question.
It will help you calculate exactly how much time you’ll spend crocheting a project.
All you need to know is how much yarn you will use on the project in either meters, yards or skeins. Then crochet your test square & time it.
Calculate how long it takes to crochet that.

Notes
- This crochet pattern is written in US terms.
- All measurements given are unblocked.
- Note that measurements are given as exact as possible. But crochet tension & technique might give variations in the result, that changes from person to person.
- CH 1 does not count as a stitch throughout the pattern.
- CH 2 does count as a double crochet stitch throughout the pattern.
- Read pattern instructions carefully before beginning to make sure you understand everything. It might save you hours frogging your work & crocheting it again!
- Make a swatch that measure at least 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inches using the stitch the gauge is given for. If your swatch matches the gauge, you’re good to go. If the gauge is wrong, you might need to change your hook. Go up in crochet hook size if your stitches are smaller & go down in crochet hook size if your stitches are bigger. Learn more about testing gauge.
- Check yarn info if you want to find an alternative or test your yarn against the gauge. Learn more about substituting yarn.
- This top has 7 sizes and will read like S (M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL). Follow along for your size. If there is an X on your size, you will not be working that row. For example, X (X, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL) or X (X, X, X, X, 3XL, 4XL)
- If you are in between sizes size up for a loose fitting shirt or size down for a fitted top.
- At the end of each row, the stitch count is given in parenthesis.
- The top is started working in the round but we will be turning after each round. This ensures the beginning of each round will stay lined up and not slant to the side. The FPTR are worked opposite of where you worked the last one on the rows previous.
- We will then branch off for the front and back panel with neckline shaping. This is when the Iris Stitch will start. The only seaming this top will have is along the top of the front and back panel and the sleeves.
- The back panel is two rows longer than the front panel.
- This top is easily customizable from the length of the body, to the sleeve length, the hem length, and the front and back panels.
- The sleeves are worked flat off the top and then seamed along the bottom.
