Wow, will you look at that! It’s already July. Where does the time go? I swear I was just working on patterns with snowflakes on them. Ok, maybe that’s an exaggeration, but it does feel like time is flying by.

So, today’s pattern is another of the Diana Line! You know that I can’t spend too much away from these patterns – that texture combo just makes me so happy. And I designed this pattern last month when I was having a fun moment with bag designs. Just bags on the brain, all day long.

This project is super easy to make though, I bet you could finish it in one night. Like, that easy. But a pattern doesn’t have to be difficult to be good, right? Totally asking for a friend 😉

I wanted to make this bag all fun and open like a market bag while incorporating the Diana Line texture. It’s not quite the same as some of my other Diana designs, but that’s what makes it unique.
So, yeah, I don’t have a ton to talk about this week! I’m working on lots of patterns for my blog, for my Ravelry, for companies, for fun… ya know, always working. I’m also looking forward to OML in a couple weeks – wow, that came up fast too. I’m definitely pretty busy right now but doing well, over all. I hope you’re the same.
I really hope you like this pattern!

Materials

  • US I (5.50 mm) crochet hook
  • Size #4 worsted/ medium weight yarn
  • Yarn needle

Gauge

  • 18 rows x 16 sc = 4”
  • 8 rows x 19 dc = 5″
    Ravelry link

Terms/ Stitches used

  • Magic Circle
  • RS: Right side
  • St: stitch
  • Ch: chain
  • Slip st: slip st
  • Sc: single crochet
  • Hdc: half double crochet
  • Dc: double crochet

Notes

  • This pattern is worked in the round, with a slip st into the first st from the last, from the bottom up in 3 sections: Base, Sides, and Handles.
  • The ch-1 at the beginning of some rows does not count at a stitch.
  • The ch-4 at the beginning of some rows does count as a dc and a ch-1.
  • You will need to know how to work into the back third loop only of a half double crochet for this pattern (also known as the Camel Stitch). When looking at a hdc there is a loop that runs along the back of the stitch, this is where you will work into. The back third loop on the previous row’s hdc will not change regardless of which way your work is facing, you will always work into the third loop on the back of the hdc.
  • This pattern is easy to make larger or smaller, just add or subtract in multiples of 2 – in your Base rows make sure you increase or decrease so your stitch count is even.
  • The colors are changed throughout the pattern but the fasten off isn’t specified until the end. You can carry the colors or fasten off as you’d like.
  • You can replace the magic circle with a ch-3 if you’d prefer.
  • The sample in the photos was made using Sugar and Cream in Lilac and Soft Ecru.

Finished product dimensions (measurements may vary by gauge and yarn used)

Diameter: 11.5″ – 12″
Height: 13.5″ – 14″ (not counting handles)

❤️ this bag. I will give it a go. After all I will need a bag to go with my new summer wear I'm still working on. Thanks so much.
