This fun and easy reversible uni-sex crochet hat pattern made top down is perfect for those who want to get rid of that stash yarn or want to make hats to gift or donate.

Materials:

(150yds) Manos del Uruguay Maxima (Peach Melba)

Crochet Hook Size H/8-5.00mm (or hook size needed to obtain gauge)

Yarn Needle

Scissors

Stitch Marker

Measuring Tape

Gauge:

16 dc and 8 rows = 4”

Sizes:

Adult Large: Cir = 22”, Di = 7”, Length =7.5”

Stitches Used:

pm- place marker

ch- chain

sl st- slip stitch

dc- double crochet

dc blo- double crochet in back loop only

dc flo- double crochet in front loop only

Pattern Notes:

- The first dc of each round is worked into the same stitch as the ch2.

-ch2 does not count as a stitch.

-Sl st into the top of the first dc

-All terms are U.S. crochet terms.

-You can substitute the magic circle with: Ch 5, sl st to 1st ch to form a ring.

Pattern

Crown (increase rows)

Rnd 1: start with a magic circle, ch3 (counts as first dc), dc 11 into the magic circle, sl st into the top of the ch3. (12 sts)

Rnd 2: ch2, 2 dc in each st around, sl st to first st (24sts)

Rnd 3: ch2, * 1 dc in nxt st, 2 dc in nxt st, Repeat from * around, sl st to first st (36sts)

Rnd 4: ch2, * 1 dc in nxt 2 sts, 2 dc in nxt st, Repeat from * around, sl st to first st (48sts)

Rnd 5: ch2, * 1 dc in nxt 3 sts, 2 dc in nxt st, Repeat from * around, sl st to first st (60sts)

Rnd 6: ch2, * 1 dc in nxt 4 sts, 2 dc in nxt st, Repeat from * around, sl st to first st (72sts)

Body

Rnd 7: ch2, 1 dc in each st around, sl st to first st.

Rnd 8: ch2, work 36 dc blo, pm, work remainder of round dc flo, sl st to first st (36 dc blo, 36 dc flo).

Rnd 9-16: Repeat rnd 8, 7 times. For more slouch, continue for 1 to 2 more rnds, not counting sc border. For less slouch stop at rnd 14-15 and continue to rnd 17 for the border.

Rnd 17: ch1, sc in each st around, sl st to first st.

For a longer border, repeat rnd 17, 2-3 times. Cut the yarn, weave in ends and Enjoy! :)
