Hey all! If there’s one staple in my wardrobe I think it’d have to be that old beat up tee shirt in the bottom of the drawer that fits juust right. Inspired by my own ol’ beat up shirt, I knew that I wanted to design my own pullover sweater that fit similarly, and so I did, re-creating “My Favorite Tee.”
My Favorite Tee is an advanced beginner crocheted garment pattern, that is perfect for those looking to get into making their own clothing and for the everyday wear. This tee is constructed in one piece with minimal seaming on the sides and sleeves worked directly on. This tee is textured, oversized and feels like it’s already worn in, hence making it your Favorite.

The Yarn
For the tee pictured I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn, I have also made this top from We Are Knitters The Cotton and Lion Brand Heartland and have found that any similar worsted weight yarns work up nicely. Just be sure to check your gauge!
THE PERFECT TEE
In my opinion, this pattern is really perfect for anytime of year and really works up fast. Designed in one piece and with minimal seaming, it really works together quickly. I can make an adult large in two afternoons! My Favorite Tee could easily be adapted to any yarn weight making it really versatile. My Favorite tee is designed with your favorite tee shirt in mind, it is perfect for layering, or wearing just because.

How Long Does It Take To Crochet That?
How long it takes to crochet something varies depending on your skill & how fast you crochet. But that isn’t a helpful answer is it?
Well, I’ve developed a yarn calculator to help you get the answer to this question.
It will help you calculate exactly how much time you’ll spend crocheting a project.
All you need to know is how much yarn you will use on the project in either meters, yards or skeins. Then crochet your test square & time it.
Calculate how long it takes to crochet that.

Notes
- This garment is worked flat, then folded in half and crocheted together, seaming the sides.
- When seaming the sides of the tee together the stripes on the front and back will not line up. The sleeves are worked immediately after working the side seams so it is important your shirt is facing right sides together when seaming.
- The sleeves of the shirt are crocheted on while the shirt is inside out.
- Overall length of tee shirt can be adjusted by +/- repeats of rows in the solid hdc sections. TC rows should always fall on an EVEN row number to ensure the texture is facing the right direction.
- If you are +/- rows, do in rows of 2 to ensure texture of pattern is facing the same direction. If you are adding rows in the back, it may be helpful to mark down where to ensure you add to the same area in the front.
- Turning chains do not count as a stitch.
- It can be helpful to highlight the stitch count for the size you are working on.
- Blocking garment before seaming may make seaming easier.
- The fit of this shirt is inspired by the fit of your favorite comfy t-shirt and was designed oversized. If you enjoy a more fitted tee, it is recommended to go down a size.
- Row count is listed as sizes XS through Large in front and sizes XL and 2X in parentheses: X-Small, Small, Medium, Large (X-Large, 2X-Large)
- Stitch count is listed at the end of each row: X-Small (Small, Medium, Large, X-Large, 2X-Large)
