I created the Savannah Ear Warmer driving south on I-95 back to my home in sunny Florida.   The moment I finished the first ear warmer, I looked up and saw the exit sign for Savannah and knew I had my pattern name.

This pattern has a fun, unique texture using reverse single crochets (revsc) and looks great in any yarn!

THE PERFECT PATTERN FOR THIS SEASON:

The Savannah Ear Warmer is perfect for the transition from summer to fall.  On cool summer nights or crisp autumn mornings, this stylish little number will keep those ears warm and toasty.  It’s also perfect for bad hair days – throw your locks up into a messybun and let this winter headband be your fashion statement.

How Long Does It Take To Crochet That?

How long it takes to crochet something varies depending on your skill & how fast you crochet. But that isn’t a helpful answer is it?

Well, I’ve developed a yarn calculator to help you get the answer to this question.

It will help you calculate exactly how much time you’ll spend crocheting a project.

All you need to know is how much yarn you will use on the project in either meters, yards or skeins. Then crochet your test square & time it.

Calculate how long it takes to crochet that.

Row 1 :  HDC in 3rd CH from hook and each stitch across.  (15 HDC)

Row 2 :  CH 1, DO NOT TURN.  REVSC in each stitch across from left to right. (15 REVSC.)  This creates the beautiful spiral row in the pattern.

Row 3 :  CH 3, DO NOT TURN.  Your CH 3 will be coming out of the FIRST space on the right side of your work, under the spirals.

Skip the SECOND space, SL ST in the THIRD space.

[CH 3, skip one space, SL ST in the next space] 6 more times.  (7 loops)

Row 4 :  CH 2, TURN.  2 HDC in each of the 1st 3 loops, 3 HDC in the 4th loop, 2 HDC in last 3 loops. (15 HDC)

Row 5 :  CH 1, TURN.  SC across in BLO.  (15 SC)

REPEAT ROWS 2 – 5 until ear warmer measures 19” long, ending on a row 4 or 5.

Fold ear warmer so right side faces in and SL ST last row to beginning row of chains.

Finishing

For a plain ear warmer, fasten off and weave in ends and wear the earwarmer with the seam near the back of your head.

For a cinched earwarmer, *leave a 6 inch tail and thread into a yarn needle.  Gather the earwarmer together near the seam and sew the tail through the cinch a few times to secure the folds tightly, then cut the yarn and weave in the end.

For different styles, try wrapping more yarn around the cinch or embellish with a crochet flower or vintage brooch.
