Crochet Jasmine Scarf

As the days get colder, it’s time to wrap ourselves in cozy pieces, such as the Crochet Jasmine Scarf. It is made in bright pink, with the most feminine of stitches. Also, it has a wonderful “squishy” texture and is unbelievably soft on the skin. It is the piece that will bring warmth to your days!

Inspiration

Fall is here, which means the time to work on warm and cozy project is upon us! And to start it off the best way possible, I decided to revisit 2 favorites of mine: Drops Air yarn and the jasmine stitch! :d

Drops Air

I can’t get over how warm and comfy this yarn is. It’s soft without being itchy on your skin. More, it’s warm without being heavy. It’s just this perfect blend of perfection that I can’t get over.

A stack of white and 2 pink skeins of Drops Air yarn which works great for the crochet jasmine stitch.

Now, I will warn you that this yarn does shed a little bit. And if you are wearing contrasting colors, it might look like you have a cat at home. However, if you are mindful of the materials you’re wearing your piece with, it is absolutely worth it!

Jasmine Stitch

Ah, the jasmine stitch… I’ve done a few projects using this stitch, such as the Jasmine Cowl and I just can’t get enough!

And even though it’s considered an advanced stitch, I hope I can help simplify it. That’s why I’ve written a series of posts sharing all my secrets to make it! You can see it all here!

Project

I knew the yarn I wanted to use and the stitch I wanted to use, so I just had to decide what to make! Looking at my jasmine stitch project collection, one thing that was missing was a scarf! Just a simple scarf that I could work on and on and on. A crochet Jasmine Scarf! 🙂

I had a few pink skeins and a white one. I know that this pattern has a lot of texture, but I thought a couple of white flowers at the ends would just help tone the bright pink, so I added one on one side and two on the other. If you’d rather have just a plain scarf, just skip the instructions for the flowers.

ps: (5-loop) puff stitch
  • Ch 1 and lengthen your loop (1 loop on hook). Pinching the ch st, yo (2 loops on hook). Try to keep the initial lengths for your loops. Insert hook into ch, pull up a loop and lengthen it (3 loops on hook). Yo (4 loops on hook). Insert hook into ch, pull up a loop and lengthen it (5 loops on hook).
  • Yo once again and pinch the yarn that forms the back loop of your yo. Without letting go of the yarn, pull through all loops (1 loop on hook). Insert your hook under the yarn you are pinching and pull up a loop (2 loops on hook). Yo and pull through both loops to close the puff st. Ch 1 to tighten it.
fps: foundation puff stitch
  • Complete one ps.
  • * Lengthen your loop (1 loop on hook). Yo (2 loops on hook). Insert hook into st that holds the 5 loops of the previous stitch together. Pull up a loop and lengthen it (3 loops on hook). Yo (4 loops on hook). Insert hook into st, pull up a loop and lengthen it (5 loops on hook).
  • Yo once again and pinch the yarn that forms the back loop of your yo. Without letting go of the yarn, pull through all loops (1 loop on hook). Insert your hook under the yarn you are pinching and pull up a loop (2 loops on hook). Yo and pull through both loops to close the st. Ch 1 to tighten it. Repeat from * until number of foundation puff stitches have been made.
3pc: 3-puff cluster
  • Start as if making a ps, but stop once you have 5 loops on hook.
  • Yo as if to pinch the yarn, but instead, insert the hook into the st between the last 2 puff sts (the puff that made your work “go up” and the last puff of the previous row/round) and pull up a loop.
  • * Lengthen your loop. Yo and insert hook into same st as before and pull up a loop. Repeat from * until you have 10 loops on hook. Yo as if to pinch the yarn, but instead, insert the yarn into the st that connects the 3rd and 2ndcompleted puff st from hook.
  • ** Lengthen your loop. Yo and insert hook into same st as before and pull up a loop. Repeat from ** until you have 15 loops on hook. Now, yo and pinch the back loop from the yo.
  • Holding the yarn pull through all loops (1 loop on hook). Insert your hook under the yarn you are pinching and pull up a loop (2 loops on hook). Yo and pull through both loops to close the cluster. Ch 1 to tighten it.

Notes

  • The project is worked from end to end.
  • The stitch count refers to the number of horizontal puff stitches.
  • You can change the measurements of the scarf. By making more puff stitches in the foundation you will make it wider and by adding more rounds you will make it lengthier.
  • If you’d rather have just a plain scarf, skip the instructions for the flowers.
