Crochet Reusable Wash Cloths
Do you ever look at all the trash your family produces and wonder where it all comes from? I certainly do! Sometimes I feel guilty that we do not use more recyclable and reusable products. I would like to continually evaluate ourselves in this area.
There are many crochet items that can be made to reduce waste. Some examples are reusable wash cloths, cleaning towels, baby wipes, swiffer or mop covers, grocery bags, coffee cozis and so much more!
Today, I would like to show you how to make a reusable face cloth. This could be used to remove makeup, and wash up at the end of the day. These could also be used as cleaning cloths to wipe your sink or any other dirty area that needs a quick clean.
For this project, you will need a skein of cotton yarn. I chose cotton for this project because it can be washed easily and will not shrink or lose its shape.
I enjoy this Lily Sugar and Cream Yarn. It is durable for wash cloths and works up beautifully in projects.
Other Materials Needed:
Crochet Hook (Size G), Scissors, Yarn Needle
Abbreviations Used:
Puff St- The puff stitch that I used was made the following way: Yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two stitches, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two stitches, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over pull through two stitches, yarn over pull up a loop, yarn over pull up a loop, yarn over pull through two stitches. Yarn over and pull through all 5 stitches on the hook. Ch one to lock the stitch in.
Ch- Chain Stitch
Pattern:
Begin with a magic circle. Chain 2. Alternatively, you could ch. 3 and join. Then, chain 2. I prefer the magic circle because you can tighten it.
Row 1: Puff Stitch, 8 times around the magic circle. Do not forget to ch after the puff so you have a small space. At the end you will have 8 puffs and 8 ch spaces. Join. Ch 2 and turn.
Row 2: Do 2 puff stitches around the circle. At the end you will have 16 puffs and 16 spaces. Join. Ch 2 and turn.
Row 3: Do 2 stitches in the first stitch, do 1 puff stitch in next around. Join.
Finish off!
