How To Crochet The Raglan Crochet Sweater
The top down raglan crochet pullover is worked in one piece seamlessly, which means no sewing.
You start at the neck opening and work the yoke in round down to the bust and arm holes.
From there you will work the sleeves and body separately in rounds.
To finish the crochet raglan sweater, all you have to do is weave in ends.
This crochet sweater is made up of mostly double crochet and single crochet stitches. However, on the sleeves you will also work 3 double crochet stitches together to create the repeating stitch pattern.
The final important technique to mention is the fact that you will work over the yarn for the sleeve colors when you work the front and back part of the yoke. Alternatively you will have to cut yarn at all rounds and weave them in at the end.

Yarn For The Top Down Sweater
For this crochet raglan sweater crochet pattern the suggested yarn is Lion Brand Yarn Touch of Cashmere. This is 4 medium worsted yarn weight.
Choose 3 yarn colors to make this striped crochet pattern.
It’s a lovely & soft blend between acrylic & cashmere.
Unfortunately this yarn has been discontinued, however you can substitute for a different 4 medium yarn. Make sure you check gauge when substituting to achieve size as desired.

How Long Does It Take To Crochet That?
How long it takes to crochet something varies depending on your skill & how fast you crochet. But that isn’t a helpful answer is it?
Well, I’ve developed a yarn calculator to help you get the answer to this question.
It will help you calculate exactly how much time you’ll spend crocheting a project.
All you need to know is how much yarn you will use on the project in either meters, yards or skeins. Then crochet your test square & time it.

- Read pattern instructions carefully before beginning to make sure you understand everything. It might save you hours frogging your work & crocheting it again!
- Make a swatch that measure at least 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inches using the stitch the gauge is given for. If your swatch matches the gauge, you’re good to go. Stitches Used In The Crochet Pattern
FSC (foundation single crochet):
Step 1: Ch 2 sts.
Step 2: Insert hook into 2nd ch from hook, pull up a loop. Yo and pull through first loop (making “chain”). Yo and pull through both loops on hook.
Step 3: Insert hook into previous “chain” you made (It should look like you go through a resemblance of a “normal” st, with 2 strands of yarn), pull up a loop, yo and pull through first loop (making “chain”). Yo and pull through both loops on hook.
Repeat step 3 until you’ve made enough stitches. *2nd ch in step 1 makes 1 st, step 2 makes 1 st & every time step 3 is repeated you make 1 st.
sc2tog (single crochet 2 together):
pull up a loop from the next 2 st, yo, draw up a loop, you have 3 loops on the hook, yo, pull through all loops on the hook
sc3tog (single crochet 3 together):
pull up a loop from the next 3 st, yo, draw up a loop, you have 4 loops on the hook, yo, pull through all loops on the hook
dc3tog (double crochet 3 together):
*yo, pull up a loop from the next st, yo, pull through 2 loops*, repeat from *to* 2 times
Techniques Used In The Crochet Pattern
Changing colors with different color on different rows:
When working with different colors on different rows, you’ll never finish the last stitch on the last row with one color, with the color you where working with.
Do all the steps of the stitch, then leave the last step unworked. Yarn over with the color for the next st & pull yarn through.
Repeat this for every row you change colors to make the color changes look beautiful.
