Crochet Step Shawl

Here’s a nice shawl called the crochet Step Shawl. It is worked from side to side, using a step increase and decrease method. This wrap is great for any occasion!

About shawls

I love shawls. They work great to put over your shoulders, arms, and back. Sometimes I wear a tank top or a sleeveless dress. Then I realize I’m freezing cold. Or, maybe I go somewhere else and don’t feel comfortable having spaghetti straps on my shoulders. Shawls like this Crochet Step Shawl are both practical and dressy!

About the Crochet Step Shawl

I wanted to create a shawl that is a bit different in how you make it. This Crochet Step Shawl has a sideways method of construction. What that means is the shawl starts from one end, such as the left-hand side. Then you crochet in steps, or increases, towards the middle. Once at the middle of the shawl, you then begin slowly decreasing in steps. This continues until you have reached the right-hand side of the shawl.

Yarn and Supplies

These days I’ve been trying to use up what I have in my stash so that I do not need to venture outdoors. Given that most of our craft stores are currently closed, I don’t have much of a choice!

DK weight yarn is really nice for my Crochet Step Shawl. It isn’t too thick. Right now I’m not into big bulky shawls. And it isn’t too thin to work with. My eyes sometimes can’t see thinner yarns anymore.

I’m using Bernat Baby Sport, which is a DK weight yarn. I chose the color Baby Grey, since it’s a nice neutral color that goes with practically everything I wear. I’m also using a size F 3.75 mm crochet hook. As always feel free to use whatever you wish.
