Crochet Flower Appliques are perfect to crochet if you are wanting to use any leftover yarn and they can be done in any weight yarn too so all you need to do is grab your yarn and corresponding hook and follow this easy crochet pattern!

I made my Crochet Flower Appliques with cotton yarn but like i said above you can use any yarn in any color, these are great to sew on to a bag or a hat or you could even make a a hairband, hair clip or even a brooch, the list is actually endless and they are so quick to do.

Yarn:

For this project i used the Rico Creative Cotton Aran which is such a dream to work with, it comes in such an array of colors which are so fresh, vibrant and modern. You will need 80 yards for this project to crochet one of these flowers using the exact same yarn.

Cotton yarns are perfect for crocheting Summer projects like this one.

Yarn Substitutions:

It is very easy to substitute this yarn all you would need to do is find a yarn that is 100% cotton and one that is either aran or worsted weight. Like i mentioned earlier though, you can just use scrap yarn.

Notes:

Ch1 at the start of row 2 does not count as a stitch from here and throughout.

Let’s get to the pattern!

R1. Leaving a 14 inch tail, Ch44, 1dc in 5th ch from hook, 1dc in same ch as first dc, ch2, 2dc in same ch * Skip next 2chs, work (2dc, ch2, 2dc) in next ch * Repeat across, turn (14 groups of (2dc, ch2, 2dc)

R2. Ch1, 1sc in very first dc, work 8dc in each ch2 space across, 1sc in very last st (14 groups of 8dc)

Fasten off.

Finishing:

  • Thread 14 inch tail on to needle with right side facing and beginning with first petal, start to roll the flower as if you are making a spiral and secure as you go with the stitches on the bottom of the flower.
  • Make sure you layer the petals evenly as you go.

Weave in all ends.
