These quick crochet baskets were such a fun, easy breezy pattern! I wanted something that would work up quickly and be great for last minute gifts, and these babies definitely fit the bill! They use super bulky yarn and I was able to finish the whole set in one afternoon without breaking a sweat.

Quick Crochet Baskets Crochet pattern - three baskets measuring 4.5 to 6.5 inches wide worked in super bulky yarn for quick home decor and last minute gifts.

About the Quick Crochet Baskets

When Pam invited me to be a part of her 30 Days of Cozy this year, I knew I wanted to participate. The theme for the year is Home Decor for Holiday Markets. I wanted to come up with a pattern that is quick, easy, and inexpensive to make. But it still had to look great and make a wonderful addition to a market booth or a last minute gift. These baskets definitely fit the bill. They work up SO FAST using WeCrochet’s Tuff Puff yarn – a single ply, thick yarn that is almost like roving. As part of the 30 days of deals, I’ve decided to add this as a free pattern to the blog! you can still purchase the ad-free PDF from Etsy or Ravelry, if you’d like.

Materials

To make these baskets, you’ll need the following materials:

  • 3 balls Tuff Puff yarn from WeCrochet (44y/100g) or siimilar super bulky yarn. I used colors Ivy, Silver, and White. You could also use smaller yarns held together, though I really like the single ply texture of the Tuff Puff for this project!
  • Size N (9mm) crochet hook – I love these Odyssey hooks from Furls Crochet!
  • Large tapestry/yarn needle for weaving in ends

Just a note – I was able to make the entire set of three baskets and the bonus dish with just three balls of yarn. However, I did use up ALL of the leftovers when I made the bonus dish. So if you’re determined to make all four baskets, you might want to pick up a fourth ball of yarn, just in case!

Quick Crochet Baskets Gauge/Sizing

9 stitches and 4 rows in dc = 4″

  • Large Basket: 6.5″ wide and 3.5″ tall
  • Medium Basket: 6.5″ wide and 2″ tall
  • Small Basket: 4.5″ wide, 3.5″ tall
  • Bonus Dish: 4.5″ wide, 2″ tall

For reference, the picture below shows each of the baskets holding the same quantity of little blocks. Or, in the case of the bonus dish, it’s spilling the same quantity of little blocks!

I promise, these will be the quickest, easiest baskets you’ve ever made. The large basket (silver and white) only has six rows – SIX!
