Simple Tote Crochet Pattern

Hello crochet friends!

Today’s pattern is a Simple Bamboo Handle Tote

This is a quick tote to crochet and doesn’t use much yarn. The tote will hold all your necessary items (wallet, phone, credit cards, hand sanitizer and more).

I didn’t line my tote, but I might make another and line that one. If you would like to line your bag, there are several good videos on Youtube with great instructions on how to line crocheted bags. The Crochet Crowd video is here

Materials:

1 skein  (8.8 oz., 317 yds) Bernat Maker Home Dec in Cream or other #5 weight yarn

Crochet hook 6mm, L, size 10

Bamboo handles (purchased at Joann)

Tapestry needle

Skill level:  Easy/Beginner

Gauge:  10 hdc = 4 inches

Size:   11” wide x 12” tall (not including handle)

Abbreviations:  (US terms)

Ch – chain

Sc – single crochet

Hdc – half double crochet

St – stitch (es)

( ) – number of stitches at end of row or round

Notea

  1. This bag takes about 140 yards of Bernat Maker Home Dec yarn

2. Crocheting around the handle can be awkward.  Try holding the handle and yarn in one hand and move the hook around the handle and yarn to complete the stitches.

3. If you prefer, you can do a single crochet in both loops of Row 21 and not crochet in the back loop. Crocheting in the back loop causes the ridged line (see pic).
