Easy Crochet Cowl Pattern by Remington Lane Crochet

Skill Level

  • Advanced Beginner

Materials

  • DK Weight Yarn in 3 colors, such as WeCrochet City Tweed DK
    • Color A: Lemon Curd – 123 yards
    • Color B: Habanero – 120 yards
    • Color C: Snowshoe – 90 yards
  • 7 (4.5mm) hook
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

Size

  • Approximately 24.75” (62.9cm) opening at the top, 32” (81.3cm) opening at the bottom, x 10.5” (26.7cm) high

Gauge

  • Single crochet 16 st x 20 rows = 4″ (10 cm) square

Abbreviations

  • bo – 3 dc bobble stitch – * yarn over, insert hook, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops * repeat from * to * two more times, inserting your hook into the same stitch each time (4 loops will remain on your hook), yarn over and pull through all loops. Notes

  • US Terms
  • Ch 1 at the beginning of single crochet rows does not count as a stitch
  • Ch 3 at the beginning of double crochet rows counts as one dc plus chain space
  • Cut the yarn at each color change, leaving a long tail about 12” (30.5cm) long to use for seaming
  • Both right and left-handed crocheters can read in the same direction
  • Bobble stitches are done when you’re working on the wrong side of the project. So after you complete the stitch, the bobble should be popping out of the right side of the fabric.

Assembly

  • Match the short ends together, wrong-side facing out. Start with Color C and whip stitch or mattress stitch (see video below) the ends together.
  • If you can’t see the video tutorial for the mattress stitch above, click HERE to watch it on YouTube.
  • When you get to Color B, change to using the Color B tail and continue sewing. Do the same when you get to Color C. Weave in ends and turn right-side out.
