This is a simple market bag you can make to any size you desire! It consists of a solid bottom (so grapes won’t fall through!) and then transitions into a traditional mesh stitch!

Notes:
  • Read through pattern instructions carefully.
Instructions:
Creating the bottom
With smaller hook,
Begin with a magic circle.
Ch 1. 6 sc in circle.
2 sc in each st (12 sc). Place sm in first sc, move sm with each new round.
*1 sc in next st. 2 sc in next st.** Repeat from * to ** to sm.
*1 sc in next 2 sts. 2 sc in next st.** Repeat from * to ** to sm.
*1 sc in next 3 sts. 2 sc in next st.** Repeat from * to ** to sm.
Repeat this sequence until you get reach *1 sc in next 11 sts, 2 sc in next st.** Repeat from * to ** to sm or about 5.5 inches in circumference (or your desired circumference!)
Don't finish off!

Creating the sides (Mesh stitch)
With larger hook,
Dc in each sc. No need for sm anymore.
*Ch 3, sk 1 dc, sc into next dc.** Repeat from * to ** around.
*Ch 3, sc in ch-3 space.** Repeat from * to ** around.
Continue mesh stitch until bag measures about 6.5 inches from top of beginning of dc (or your desired height! But remember this yarn will stretch and get longer once you start using it!)
Place sm.
3 sc in every ch-3 space.
Sc in every sc for two rounds.
Don't finish off!

Creating the straps
Ch 35 for first strap, sk 16 sc, sl st to join, ch 1.
Fold bag in half so that the beginning and end of strap line up.
Count about 8 sts in on the opposite side. Place sm.
Sc to sm, ch 35, sk 16, sl st to join, ch 1.
Sc in every sc for 3 rounds.
Finish off.
Weave in ends.
