Flower Mandala

Hello to all! We are now in May the fifth month of the year and it is one of the best months of the year! May is celebrated for its beauty and the blooming of flowers. "May is the time when the flowers bloom, the birds sing, and the world awakens from its winter slumber." - Unknown. It is known as the transition month since it is the gateway to summer! This is a month to enjoy, as the weather is not too cold or hot and the days are getting longer so you can spend more time out doors. It is so nice to see the beautiful flowers in bloom and feel the warm sun in your face!

Since the Month of May is the time when most flowers bloom, our focus this month will be on, you guessed it, flowers! We will start off the with something to brighten up your day!  Here we go a skein, fresh off the hook:
                                                The Flower Mandala

These colorful mandalas are great crochet pieces to add a splash of color to your home! You can make them in any color combination, the choice is yours!

This Mandala pattern is considered easy since it has the basic sc and dc stitches, but includes puff and back post dc (BPdc) stitches.

I hope you enjoy this pattern and look forward to sharing more crochet flower patterns with you!

Have a hooky day! Lynne

Granny Square Drawstring Pouch

Here we are at the end of April and the last pattern for our Granny Square accessory month. Last week I shared with you the Granny Stripe Shoulder Bag. It is a great medium size bag! But do you ever just need a small bag to hold a few things? I have been known to throw my crochet hook, scissors, yarn needle, and stitch markers in the large bag with my yarn and they get stuck in the yarn or fall out of the bag! Having a small pouch for my crochet tools is a great way of keeping those small items together.

Fresh off the hook:

                                  The Granny Square Drawstring Pouch

This is a quick and easy, stash-busting pattern using only a small amount of any yarn and great for crocheters of all levels! You can make the pouch larger or smaller by adjusting the size of the granny square!

This drawstring pouch has so many uses, besides crochet tools, it can be used as a trinket bag, a party favor, to hold small presents or organize small items.

I don't know about you, but I love to make granny squares since they are quick and easy! It is fun to figure out ways to put them together to make useful items!

Have a hooky day! Lynne
