Sweet Nothings Crochet

With this simple creation, you can ensure that you never lose sight of your bag as it tumbles down the baggage carousel !

Materials used : Today I’ve used (Indian) polyester purse yarn with a 4 mm crochet hook ; key ring

For Indians : You could use Red ros e or unbranded knitting cotton too

If you need beads etc check here or here or here

General yarn info : The yarn used today is not specific to this pattern.

You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.

International yarns : Among the international yarns I have used in this thickness, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.

Double crochet 2-tog : dc 2-tog : [yo, insert hk in st or ch-sp, yo and pull up a lp ; yo and draw through 2 lps] 2 times (3 lps on hk) ;

Start Round 1 : with a magic circle and work dc 2-tog in it ;

(ch 2, dc 2-tog in the same magic circle) ;

rep (to) 4 more times ;

ch 2 and join with a sl-st to the 1^st st. (six dc 2-tog)

Now we're going to find our way to the bottom of this round and work a round of chains.

Round 2 : ch 2, sk 1st dc of the dc 3-tog, and work a bpsc around the next dc ;

(ch 3, sk next 2 dc, and work a bpsc around the next dc) ;

rep (to) all around ;

ch 3 and join with a sl-st to the 1^st st. (six ch-3 sps)

ch 2 to start the 1st bpsc

We will then work our next round in these chains to get the 3-D effect we're looking for.

Triple Crochet : trc : wrap yarn twice around hook, insert hk into st ; yo (4 lps on hk); [yo, draw through 2 lps] three times. One trc made.

Round 3 : (1 sc ; 1 hdc ; 2 dc ; 2 trc ; 2 dc ; 1 hdc ; 1 sc) all in the 1st ch-sp ;

rep(to) in the next ch-sp and in each ch-sp all around ;

join with a sl-st to the 1^st st.

Do not fasten off, continue to make the chain.

Now we will make a long chain that we will use to attach onto the handle of the baggage / suitcase. The length of this depends on you. One thing you need to keep in mind is that it needs to be long enough to go around and tie securely around the bag handle but not so long that it flaps too loosely - as we do not want this getting caught in the carousel.

Make chain : Work as many chain as you need for the double the final length of your loop. Join with a sl-st to the 1st st.

Optional idea : Adding beads :

If you would like to add beads, then you need to add them before you start the pattern. You'd need 6 beads or multiples of 6, depending on where you want to add them.

1) If you add them just in one trc st, then you need 6 beads.

2) If you add them just in both trc sts, then you need 12 beads.

3) If you add them in every alternate st, then you need 5 beads per petal = 30 beads.

This means that you will add in the 1st sc, then the 1st dc, 1st trc, 2nd dc, 2nd sc.

the 2nd dc and 2nd sc being the ones at the end of the row in each petal.

Go ahead and let just your imagination be your limitation!
