Textured Fan Baby Cardigan Pattern

Stitches:

CH: Chain- Yarn over pull through one loop.

SS: Slip stitch- Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over and pull through both the stitch and loop on the hook.

DC: Double crochet- Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops. Yarn over pull through two loops.

SC: Single crochet- Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops.

HDC: Half double crochet- Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through three stitches.

CDC: Crochet double crochet- Yarn over. Skip the first stitch. Insert hook into next stitch. Yarn over and draw up loop. Yarn over pull through two loops. Yarn over pull trough two loops. Working backwards insert hook into the stitch that you skipped. Yarn over draw up loop. Yarn over pull through two loops. Yarn over pull through two loops.

Instructions:

Chain 69

Row 1: HDC in second ch from hook. HDC in the next 7 Chs. *Make 3HDC in the next ch. HDC in the next 16 chs.* Repeat from * to * a total of three times. Make 3HDC in the next stitch. HDC in the next 8 Chs.

Row 2: Ch 2. HDC in the next 9.  *Make 3HDC in the next ch. HDC in the next 18 chs.* Repeat from * to * a total of three times. Make 3HDC in the next stitch. HDC in the next 9 Chs.

Row 3: Ch 2. HDC in the next 10.  *Make 3HDC in the next ch. HDC in the next 20 chs.* Repeat from * to * a total of three times. Make 3HDC in the next stitch. HDC in the next 10 Chs.

Row 4: Ch 2. HDC in the next 11.  *Make 3HDC in the next ch. HDC in the next 22 chs.* Repeat from * to * a total of three times. Make 3HDC in the next stitch. HDC in the next 11 Chs.

Row 5: Ch 2. HDC in the next 12.  *Make 3HDC in the next ch. HDC in the next 24 chs.* Repeat from * to * a total of three times. Make 3HDC in the next stitch. HDC in the next 12 Chs.

Row 6: Ch 2. HDC in the next 13.  *Make 3HDC in the next ch. HDC in the next 26 chs.* Repeat from * to * a total of three times. Make 3HDC in the next stitch. HDC in the next 13 Chs.

Row 9: Ch 2. HDC in the next 17. Ch 5. sk the next 32 stitches. HDC in the next 34. Ch 5. Skip the next 32 stitches. HDC in the next 17 stitches.

Row 10: Ch 3. *Skip the next 3 stitches. Make 3 Dc in next stitch. Ch 3. Working back wards make 3Dc in the second skipped stitch. Skip the next unworked stitch. Dc in the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * once more.  Skip the next 3 stitches. Make 3 Dc in next stitch. Ch 3. Working back wards make 3Dc in the second skipped stitch. Dc 4 in the ch5 space. CDC 17 across the back. Repeat from * to * a total of 3 times.

Row 11: Ch 6. *Sc in Chain 3. space. Ch 3. skip the next 3 stitches. Dc in the next stitch. Ch 3.* Repeat from * to * once more. Sc in the Chain 3. space. Ch 3. Skip the next three stitches. Dc in the next 4 Dc stitches. CDC 17 across the back. Dc in the next 4 Dc stitches. Ch 3. Repeat from * to * two times. Sc in the chain 3 space. Ch 3. Dc in last stitch.

Row 12: Ch 3. *Skip the first Chain 3. space and Sc. Make 3 Dc in next Ch 3 space. Ch 3. Working back wards make 3Dc in the skipped Chain 3. space. Dc in the next Dc stitch.* Repeat from * to * once more. Skip the first Chain 3. space and Sc. Make 3 Dc in next Ch 3 space. Ch 3. Working back wards make 3Dc in the skipped Chain 3. space.  Dc in the next 4 Dc stitches. CDC 17 across the back. Dc in the next 4 Dc stitches. Repeat from * to * a total of 3 times. (The last double crochet of this round should be in the 3 chain of the ch 6 from previous round.)

Row 13: Repeat 11

Row 14: Repeat 12

Row 15: Repeat 11

Row 16: Repeat 12

Row 17: Repeat 11

Row 18: Repeat 12

Row 19: Repeat 11

Row 20: Repeat 12

Finish off, Or if you prefer an even edge repeat row 11 once more.

Working the left arm:

Starting with the back of the Cardigan facing you, (on the right side) join with a SS to Row 9.

Round 1: Ch 1. HDC in same stitch as join. HDC in the corner stitch from Row 8. HDC in the next 32 stitches. HDC in the next corner space. HDC in the side of the HDC from Row 9. Work 5  HDC evenly Across the Ch 5 space from round 9. (I put a HDC before and after each Dc that was made in row 10.) Join with  a SS to the top of the first HDC made.

Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as first DC). *Skip the next 3 stitches. Make 3 Dc in next stitch. Ch 3. Working back wards make 3Dc in the second skipped stitch. Skip the next unworked stitch. Dc in the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * 5 more times. Skip the next 3 stitches. Make 3 Dc in next stitch. Ch 3. Working back wards make 3Dc in the second skipped stitch. Skip the next unworked stitch. Join with a SS to the 2 Ch from the beginning Chain 3.

Finish off. Weave in ends.

Working the right arm:

Starting with the back of the cardigan facing you, (on the left side) join with a SS to Row 9.

Round 1: Ch 1. HDC in same stitch as join. Work 5  HDC evenly Across the Ch 5 space from round 9. (I put a HDC before and after each Dc that was made in row 10.) HDC in the next corner space. HDC in the side of the HDC from Row 9. HDC in the next corner space. Join with a SS to the first HDC made.

Round 2:  Ch 3 (counts as first DC). *Skip the next 3 stitches. Make 3 Dc in next stitch. Ch 3. Working back wards make 3Dc in the second skipped stitch. Skip the next unworked stitch. Dc in the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * 5 more times. Skip the next 3 stitches. Make 3 Dc in next stitch. Ch 3. Working back wards make 3Dc in the second skipped stitch. Skip the next unworked stitch. Join with a SS to the 2 Ch from the beginning Chain 3.

Finish off. Weave in ends.

 

Button spaces:

Join with a SS to the side of Row 1.

Row 1: Ch 1. Evenly work 15 Sc across row 1-9 from the beginning of the cardigan pattern.

Row 2: Ch 1. Sc 3. Ch 2. skip the next 2 stitches. Sc in the next 3 stitches. Ch 2. Skip the next two stitches. Sc to the end.

Row 3: Ch 1. Sc across in each stitch and each ch space.

Finish off. Weave in ends.
