Stacked Shells Baby Skirt Crochet Pattern

G 4.25mm Crochet Hook

Caron Simply Soft yarn (Light Worsted Weight)

Stitches:

CH: Chain- Yarn over pull through one loop.

SS: Slip stitch- Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over and pull through both the stitch and loop on the hook.

DC: Double crochet- Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops. Yarn over pull through two loops.

SC: Single crochet- Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops.

FPDC: Yarn over. Insert hook around the front to back and around stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops. Yarn over pull through two loops.

BPDC: Yarn over. Insert hook around the stitch fron back to front into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops. Yarn over pull through two loops.

Ch 48 (54, 60). Without twisting your chain, join with a SS. If you have trouble joining without twisting, check out this fool proof trick.

Row 1: Ch 3. Dc in same stitch as join and in each Ch across. Join with a SS on top of first Dc made.

Row 2: Ch 2. FPDC around first Dc from previous round. BPDC around next stitch. *FPDC. BPDC* Repeat from * to * all the way around. End with a FPDC. Slip to join on top of first FPDC made.

Row 3: Repeat Row 2.

Row 4: Ch 1. Sc in same stitch. *Skip the next stitch. 5Dc  in the next stitch. Skip the next stitch. Sc.*  Repeat from * to * all the way around. Join with a SS to the top of the first Sc made.

Row 5: SS in the next two stitches. Ch 1. Sc in same stitch and the next two stitches. *Ch 3. Skip the next 3 stitches. Sc in the next 3 stitches.* Repeat from * to *   until 3 stitches remain. Ch 3 and join with SS to the first Sc made.

Row 6: SS in the next stitch. Ch 1. Sc in same stitch. *5Dc in the next Ch 3 space. Skip the next stitch. Sc in the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * until the last Ch 3 space. 5Dc in the last Ch 3 space. Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

Row 7-12: Repeat Row 5-6.

To increase or decrease length, add or subtract row 5-6 as many. Time as you want here.

Row 13: Repeat Row 5.

Row 14: SS in the next stitch. Ch 1. Sc in same stitch. *7Dc in the next Ch 3 space. Skip the next stitch. Sc in the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * until the last Ch 3 space. 7Dc in the last Ch 3 space. Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

Row 15: SS in the next two stitches. Ch 1. Sc in same stitch and the next two stitches. *Ch 5. Skip the next 5 stitches. Sc in the next 3 stitches.* Repeat from * to *   until 5 stitches remain. Ch 5 and join with SS to the first Sc made.

Row 16: SS in the next stitch. Ch 1. Sc in same stitch. *7Dc in the next Ch 5 space. Skip the next stitch. Sc in the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * until the last Ch 5 space. 7Dc in the last Ch 5 space. Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

Row 17: Ch 4 (counts as first double crochet and ch 1). Dc in same stitch. Ch 1. [*Dc in next stitch. Ch 1.* Repeat from * to *  til the last DC of the 7Dc shell. Dc in the last Dc of shell. Sc in Sc space.] Repeat from [ to ] til the end. Join with a SS to third chain from the beginning of the round.

Row 18: Ch 1. Sc in same space and in each stitch and ch 1 space all the way around. Join with a SS to first Sc made.

Finish off. Weave in ends.
