Velvet Yarn Crochet Baby Blanket – Glover Stitch Baby Blanket – Free Crochet Pattern

This Velvet Yarn Crochet Blanket uses the Glover Stitch. This stitch I discovered while playing with yarn. I was trying to find a stitch that would look good with bulky velvet yarn so that I could make a baby afghan out of it. I hope you like how it came out!

This stitch is done in multiples of 2 + 1

To start:

I did a Ch of 73 loosely BUT In my option this is a bit long, I think doing 65 chains would have been enough or crochet in multiples of 2 + 1 until desired size is reached. (see above for sizing) This is the length of the blanket, from now on you are working on the width. The finished size of the blanket I made reached:

84 cms \ 33 inches wide

109 cms \ 43 inches long

DESIGN PATTERN: If you are using 2 colors like I did, do one row in one color for the beginning border, then change to the other color for the next 7 total rows. The alternate colors every 7 rows for a total of 6 rows. Then finish your bother border by doing one row of the other color.

Row 1

* Insert your hook into the next stitch, pull up a loop (2 loops on hook ) YO and insert your hook into next stitch and pull up a loop ( 4 loops on hook ) YO and pull through all 4 loops and ch 1. * repeat for row. At the end of your row ch 2 and turn.

Row 2

* Insert your hook into  front  loop only of next stitch, pull up a loop (2 loops on hook ) YO and insert your hook into next stitch going through both loops and pull up a loop ( 4 loops on hook ) YO and pull through all 4 loops and ch 1. * repeat for row. At the end of your row ch 2 and turn.

At the very end of the row always remember to chain 2 because one of these chains will count as your first stitch of the row.

You want to repeat row 2 to continue project. Always be sure your going into the correct loops and chaining when you need to.
