Crochet pine cones

Pine cones are perfect for decorations but not everyone live close to a forrest. So why not make your own? The best is that you can chose whatever color you want.

Pattern in Swedish >>

MATERIAL

Any yarn would probably do but here are a small list of some that I have tried.
Yarn: Järbo 8/4. Hook: 2,5 mm.
Yarn: Järbo Minibomull. Hook: 3 mm.
Yarn: Järbo Alpacka Solo. Hook: 3 mm.

ABBREVIATIONS, US CROCHET TERMS

st - stitch
sl st - slip stitch
ch - chain
sc - single crochet

DESCRIPTION

Start by making 70 ch.

Round 1:
Start in 2:nd ch from hook. Make 1 sc in each of the next 69 st. (= 69 sc)

Round 2:
(Ch 3 , turn around and make 1 sl st in 2:nd ch from hook, 1 sl st in next ch, 1 sl st in the sc below , sl st in the 2 following sc ) repeat until the end.

There should now be a ribbon with 35 "pikes".

Fasten off and weave in one of the ends but save one long end. Use a yarn needle to stitch the ribbon together. Roll up the ribbon as a downward spiral that becomeswider and wider, stitch it together while rolling.
